Revisiting Bhopal Gas Tragedy through Film Bhopal - A Prayer for Rain

Revisiting Bhopal Gas Tragedy through Film Bhopal - A Prayer for Rain

Warren Anderson - Man behind genocide of 30,000 innocent Indians on
intervening night of December 2-3, 1984 in Bhopal. 40 tonnes of poisonous methyl isocyanate (MIC) gas engulfed the whole Bhopal
Film Bhopal - A Prayer for Rain is an extraordinary effort by Director Ravi Kumar and Sahara Films to bring forward the black night of 1984, which even after 30 years is creating its repercussion.
This film tried to open the closet full of skeletons depicting the nexus between the then State Government, Union Government and Union Carbide.
The credits at the end of film does not show the name of the artists or technical crew of film rather it shows the horrific details:
1. Anderson was declared the main defendant in 1992. He remains fugitive from justice in Indian Courts. He lived in Florida till he died on September 29, 2014
2. Seven Indian Carbide staff were convicted of 'death by negligence' in 2010. They were fined $2000 each
3. In 1982, Carbide Auditors warned of the potential of a runaway reaction
4 Carbide refused antidote and maintained that MIC was harmless.
5 Carbide insisted the accident was an act of sabotage by an employee
6 Around 10,000 bodies were counted the morning after
7 Compensation - Union carbide paid $470 million. Per dead body $300
6 Still now approximately 450 victims visit hospital everyday
7 Union Carbide was taken over by Dow Chemicals in 2001. Dow refuses any liability
8 Union Carbide never apologized.
A MUST WATCH FILM...Not for entertainment sake....but to see the future by peeking into the past.
At the time of Bhopal tragedy Late Arjun Singh was the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. Late Rajeev Gandhi was Prime Minister of India. Late Shri Gyani Jail Singh was President of India
THERE ARE MANY MORE UNION CARBIDES IN INDIA, READY FOR STARTING DANCE OF DEATH....
